Who is Clara?
Clara’s Voice- A voice for support
Family and relationship trauma are unique forms of trauma. Like soldiers returning from the battlefield who claim that their trauma can not possibly be understood by those who have not lived in, these dynamics need to be understood and explored in the same way.
As a therapist who has had both personal and professional experience in this area, I have made it my mission in life to bring awareness and support to survivors all over, those whose voices have not been heard.
As a clinician, I hear stories of people of all genders who report feeling misunderstood in a mental health system that does not understand the depths of their trauma. I listen to men who were not believed because their perpetrator was a woman, or because they were taught to not express their pain or emotions about their childhood. I heard the pain of women who were shamed from their communities for coming forward in a world that praises women for their conformity. I shared stories of discouragement with members of the LGBTQ+ community who experienced discrimination and bias during an already stressful time. BIPOC who feel shamed in discussing their history in a culture that already stigmatizes and stereotypes their families and community as being dangerous. All of these people, survivors and those who sought to help them, wanted to break the cycle, but felt powerless against a system that does not seem set up to protect us.

Clara’s Voice is the voice for everyone, for all victims of IPV, domestic violence and family trauma, survivors, and those who love them and want to understand them better. Survivors of all genders, ages, sexualities, races, faiths- everyone.
With each generation comes new hope, more power, and a louder voice. Clara was someone who came before all of us, who was unable to have a voice during her time. Today she lives on in all survivors and those who love them.
