Hi! I’m Kaytlyn! Most call me Kaytee.

I work with survivors of traumatic families. I am also a survivor, so I get it. Many of us are struggling with how to live a happy and fulfilling life with all of the lingering feelings and symptoms that stay with us as a result of our experiences.

Unfortunately, trauma from our family of origin does not end when we leave home. Maybe we were scapegoated or blamed- first for the abuse and then after coming out about it. This blame and shame stay with us, showing up in our relationships, friendships, even in our professional life.

In my professional and my personal experience, I have noticed a connection between domestic violence and family violence. Many of us grow up and enter relationships that mimic the dysfunction we experienced with our caregivers. It takes time to learn to understand and break these patterns. My books and articles explore how these experiences show up, and how to learn to work through- or live with- them.
